Hope, Cascades & Canyons Tourism Region

Between the Coast Mountain Range and the Cascade Mountain Range, this hub of southern BC highways makes Hope a readily accessible destination from which to explore some of the most beautiful and dramatic BC wilderness. Within a half hour drive, there are awe-inspiring desert canyons, vast stands of coastal rainforest, rugged snow capped mountains, expansive alpine meadows and fast-flowing rivers.

Lying at the edge of the Fraser Valley, Hope is a hub of highways that come and go from everywhere! To the west, across the Fraser Valley is Vancouver via Hwys 1 & 7; to the north, Hwy 1 winds up the scenic Fraser Canyon to the BC Interior and Cariboo regions; to the east, Hwy 3 crosses the Coast Mountains to Princeton and east to the Kootenays, and to the south, is the only road access to the Skagit Valley at the edge of the Cascade Mountains.

The Fraser Canyon

The Fraser Canyon is a delight to drive through. The incredible scenery includes mountains, rivers and lakes. Explore hidden tunnels and stop off at one of the historic sights along the way. Outdoor activities abound, try your hand at gold panning, visit the historic gold rush town of Yale, experience the thrill of river rafting or throw your hiking boots on and explore one of the many trails along the canyon.

The portion of Highway 3 within the Hope, Cascades & Canyons Region runs from Hope to East Gate (approximately 85 kms), a small cabin community on the eastern side of E.C. Manning Provincial Park. In between you will find the massive protected area of Manning Provincial Park, the small community of Sunshine Valley just outside of the West Gate of the park, and the popular roadside viewpoint at the Hope Slide. All areas offer year-round outdoor recreational opportunities, and of course the incredible night skies.
